In the Crucible is Nomadic Visions/Network photographer Duane Prentice's in-depth voyage profiling the lives of 30 people and families in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside over the past five years. The pervasive cultural ignorance of the conditions surrounding substance abuse, mental health survival and housing issues, fed by the enforced silence of those living within them, continues to prevent solutions to this problem.
